Music: Kenny Rogers – The Gambler

Share

Country singer, Kenny Rogers is famous for his song The Gambler. The song was released in 1978 and has become one of the best known songs in country music history.

“You got to know when to hold ’em, know when to fold ’em. Know when to walk away, know when to run.” Those lyrics are from Kenny Rogers’ 1978 song “The Gambler”. The lyrics capture the essence of what it takes for a poker player to be successful. As a gambler, you need to have a feeling for how much you can risk in order to win. You need the mindset that sometimes you’ll lose just as often as you’ll win and that’s okay. You need the willpower – or “moxie” – to go all in on a hand of cards. You also need wisdom about when to fight and when it’s time to walk away.
